Why would you buy from GemFacets?
Well, here’s the thing – GemFacets is just one person – me. That means that if you have questions about a stone, or an order, or pretty much anything really, it’s me you’ll speak to.
Generally, you’ll see that there is only one available of any item on the website – that’s because every stone here is cut by me, from rough material I choose, mostly on a stone-by-stone basis.
I choose the cut depending on the shape of the stone, its material, colour and transparency, with the aim of making the best gem possible from that particular piece of rough. The final polish is to a far higher quality than that on a commercially, factory-cut cut stone.
I buy from select, trusted suppliers, who in turn source their material directly from small-scale, artisanal miners, or the brokers they work with. I will only buy stones where I am confident that the people who actually mine them are properly compensated, and treated with dignity and respect.
If you make precious things by hand, you do it with care and attention to detail, making the best work that you can make. If you use gemstones in your work, shouldn’t they also be a high-quality product, treated with the same level of care and attention?
